In recent years, our country has made significant progress in areas like education for all, reducing child and mother mortality rate, increasing life expectancy and above all slashing down poverty level. In spite of these successes, state of public health in Bangladesh is still lagging behind that of many developing countries. Respectively skilled human resources are the backbone of the health care delivery. But our country has a severe shortage of skilled medical personnel in places where they are most needed. People of rural areas have been suffering from the problem of acute shortage of quality medical professionals within their reach.
In this health care context, we establish a medical assistant training school for creating skilled medical professionals under the flagship of ASA. In pursuit of that ASA Medical Assistant Training School (ASA MATS) was established and it started academic journey from January 2014 with prior approval from government of Bangladesh. Since establishment, ASA MATS has been devoted to the development of quality medical human resources with all of its sincere and persistent efforts.
ASA MATS has been established at the remote village of South Narapati, under Chunarughat Upazila of Habiganj district. The students studying in ASA MATS are mostly hailed from lower middle class and poor households. The institute facilitates the students who are meritorious but insolvent at its best with tuition fee waiver and scholarship.
We believe that quality health care service is as good as its practitioners. Skilled medical personnel are the most critical driving force in any health care system. They are the ultimate resource for promoting health, preventing diseases and curing sickness. Considering the importance, ASA MATS hired faculties and resource persons who have bright academic scores and sound experience in medical profession.
I hope that ASA MATS will become one of the best medical institutions of our country soon through its utmost thrust and dedication towards improving the health care service in our country.
